The Electric Run is generating a buzz here in the capital, and the inaugural event is ready to make a mark on the city’s active community on 29th January.

No ordinary 5km run, the event welcomes people of all ages and fitness levels to take part and have fun while getting fit.

Race director David Sanderson explains, “This event is for everyone. You can come straight off the couch and not be involved in any training at all.

“It’s entertainment from the start. You can walk, dance or run your way around the track and just enjoy the atmosphere on the night with your family and friends.”

So what can you expect? Something between a rave and a fun run, the unique event takes revellers through eight lands of light and sound – from Teddy Bear Lane and Rainbow Road to Electric Avenue and Neffmau5 – that will transport you to an electric wonderland.

When you register you’ll receive a sign-up pack with an Electric Run T-shirt and some glowing goodies to help you make the most of the lights – but that’s not to say you shouldn’t think outside the box and unleash your artistic side to stand out from the crowd.

“It’s a social experience and it’s all about not taking yourself too seriously and dressing up as much as possible,” David adds. “Bring your camera, take pictures and have fun exploring all the zones and being part of an exciting new event.

At the end of the run, the Festival Village awaits participants who will be confronted with neon lights, lasers and some world-class DJs.

“Once you reach the end you will realise that you can get round a 5km track and enjoy it as well. This event is a great springboard for people to get more active and fit in 2016.”
