The boys are back in town, and as Abu Dhabi gets ready for another WWE LIVE show, we meet its wrestling superstars

Some of the world’s top entertainment wrestlers are taking over Zayed Sports City Tennis Stadium for a live show by World Wrestling Entertainment Inc (WWE) 12th-14th February – and no, boys, this doesn’t count as a Valentine’s Day date.

The ring will come alive with body slams, dropkicks and powerbombs – and let’s not forget the occasional flurry of trash talk!

Let’s take a look at some of the talent…

John Cena

Legendary champ John Cena, with his 11 WWE Championships and two World Heavyweight titles, is one of the most recognisable names in the sport.

The Massachusetts man rose to fame in 2002 on the WWE professional wrestling TV show SmackDown, with his Hulk-like physique and relentless grappling style.

Fans – or foes – of John won’t want to miss his fight with rival Seth Rollins. During the Street Fight match, the rulebook will be thrown out the window, so everywhere and anything can be used during the contest.

Seth Rollins

Seth Rollins came crashing onto the entertainment scene in 2012 after winning the NXT Championship, another WWE competition. Along with fellow NXT stars Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns, Seth ruffled some feathers when they formed a formidable
trio known as The Shield.

Seth, who now wrestles solo and was named WWE Money in the Bank 2014 champ, is out for wrestling domination – and that means John must pay.

Dolph Ziggler

With his bleached hair and luminous get-up, it’s no wonder Dolph Ziggler is known as ‘the showoff’.

Dolph has caused a feud by winding up nearly every WWE star and there is no doubt he plans to cause a stir this February.

But don’t be fooled by his shenanigans. Dolph was a star student when he was younger and was even nicknamed golden boy because of his squeaky clean record!

Sami Zayn

Canadian-Syrian wrestler Sami Zayn is the current NXT champ.

He says, “It’s awesome that I am competing in front of an Arab audience again. The crowd was so receptive in 2013. It’s an honour to represent Arabs on a global scale; it wouldn’t have been possible without WWE.

“We do this hundreds of nights a year so it’s nice to come to a place like Abu Dhabi, which all of the guys love. Wrestlers like performing in a new location with new fans.”

He adds, “You’re going to get a show – WWE always delivers. It’s a big deal; we are trying to build something here. Your support goes a long way and helps our vision of creating a strong fan base and bringing events regularly to the UAE. It all starts with buying that first ticket.”

Tickets from AED 300-AED 2,000. 7pm 12th-13th February, 5pm 14th February. For more information contact: www.ticketmaster.ae
