Hotel brings big smiles

Davao follow-up, March 2012, Philippines. Patient 086, Prince Nerrie Abayon.

The Sheraton Abu Dhabi Hotel & Resort has raised more than AED 26,000 for children suffering from facial deformities.

The Sheraton raised money for Operation Smile UAE by hosting a charity flea market in June.

“One 45-minutes surgery transforming a cleft lip into a beautiful smile, changing a child’s life forever costs only AED 880,” said Martin Cramer general manager of the hotel. “It is unbelievable how much of an impact these funds can make. We are very happy to make a difference in children’s lives and will continue to work closely with Operation Smile.”

“I am overwhelmed by all the support received,” said Morag Cromey-Hawke executive director of Operation Smile UAE.

“The first mission in the UAE is on the way. We are building a database of children with cleft conditions within the country. We hope to provide cleft care for as many children as possible while building on the expertise and knowledge of medical personnel here.

“Plans are currently being made to conduct the mission in Abu Dhabi in early 2014. We are also continuing to fund missions in other countries because we believe that every child deserves a smile,” she added.

The Sheraton’s next charity flea market will take place on 21st September. All proceeds raised will be donated to the Road to Awareness charity educating children in Nigeria and Cameroon. For more information call 02 677 3333.
