Get ready for a tech exhibition that covers all your gadgetry needs
If you’ve ever wished a robot could do your household chores, you might not be wishful thinking as it could become reality. Intrigued? Then find out more at the Abu Dhabi Electronics Shopper (ADES) exhibition.
Now in its third year, ADES 2015 gathers gadgets at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (Adnec). The four-day event is expected to attract 70,000 visitors from Wednesday 18th to Saturday 21st March – making it the largest of its kind in the region.
But with so many megapixels, megabytes and industry moguls, where do you start?
Highlights
Camera experts Nikon will be testing shutterbugs with two competitions, Nikon Shootout Challenge and Mr and Miss Photogenic 2015, both of which require advance registration online.
Nikon will provide cameras so you can take part in the Nikon Shootout Challenge – take a picture of the daily fashion show and you could win a AED 1,500 voucher to spend on camera equipment.
Nikon will also be on the hunt for Mr and Miss Photogenic 2015. After registering online, send in a portrait shot (under 1mb) of yourself and you might win a Nikon D3300 camera. You can also sign up in advance for free photography training.
The Robotics Zone is worth checking out, too. Robots in our Home will display robots used in everyday life. In Competition Zone meanwhile, pre-registered individuals and teams will battle their bots for victory. A third section gives you the chance to build your own robot with expert advice in Robotics Training Lab – as long as you’ve pre-registered.
The exhibition will also introduce two of the latest smartphones: the Samsung Galaxy S6 and the Hisense King Kong. Test them out and pre-order them on the spot.
Tired of tech? Test your trigger skills in paintball, archery or airsoft – which uses guns that fire plastic pellets – in the Shooting Zone. Some mystery prizes are up for grabs.
Buy a VIP ticket and you’ll be entered into various raffles; prizes include a Ford Mustang and two Etihad Airways business class tickets to any of its locations excluding the US, Canada and Australia.
