A modern family-friendly amusement centre opens in the capital
Thirteen-year-old Ahmad giggles as he steps out of the Freestyler, an amusement ride made up of mechanical surfboards that swing wildly in the air.
“That was awesome!” he says, before turning to his dad. “Can I do it again?”
Standing a few feet away is Ronald, a Filipino restaurant worker, who’s spending his day off here. He’s waiting to be escorted inside a booth called XD Dark Ride, an interactive motion cinema that uses 3D graphics.
“I tried it earlier,” he smiles. “It’s like watching a movie yet you feel like you’re part
of the scenes.”
These are just some of the attractions at Fabyland, a new entertainment-amusement destination in Deerfields Townsquare Shopping Centre.
The brand originated in Saudi Arabia and is now expanding to neighbouring countries.
Kids can choose from a line of exciting rides such as bumper cars, the log flume – hollow log boats that careen down a water chute – and top dancer, rows of seats that spin around like a roulette table. There’s also a climbing wall, arcade, indoor football-themed arena and rides for smaller children.
Fabyland also features a party room, arts and crafts corner and a kids salon that offers AED 30 haircuts for boys and girls.
Fahad Al-Othaim, president of Al-Othaim Group, the firm behind Fabyland, says, “We occupy 5,574sqm here so we have enough space to put thrilling and safe attractions for children of all age groups as well as teenagers and adults.”
