Eddie Murphy plays Jack, a boorish, fast-talking literary agent, who after sweet-talking a spiritual guru into a book deal suddenly finds his life intertwined with that of a mysterious Bodhi tree. Every word he speaks causes the tree to shed a leaf and once the tree has lost 1,000 leaves, Jack will die. Sounds interesting but unfortunately it’s not. Maybe Murphy should make like a tree and leave.
