Inglourious Basterds

filmpreviews01Gory, completely over the top and 100 percent Tarantino, this narcissistic film is quite possibly the ultimate must-see of the year ... unless you happen to be German, of course.
In Occupied France, in the midst of World War II, young Shosanna Dreyfus (Laurent) witnesses the barbaric execution of her entire family at the hands of Nazi Colonel Hans Landa (Waltz). After a narrow escape, she takes on a new life in Paris and begins plotting her revenge.
Elsewhere in Europe, Lieutenant Aldo Raine (Pitt) is busy rallying together fellow Jewish soldiers to take part in targeted acts of retribution. Known to the enemy as “The Basterds”, the slightly sadistic revenge-driven group soon join forces with others keen to bring down leaders of the Third Reich. But everyone knows that even the best of plans can never go smoothly ...
This gut-wrenchingly gory revenge film is driven by a fantastic cast and some iconic directing. If you can wince your way through some of the more brutal scenes, this film portrays a slick, genre-crossing story of a slightly disturbing alternate history, and displays some of Tarantino’s best work to date.
