A daft, and generally deft, British animated retelling of the star-crossed romance set in adjacent English backyard gardens and to the music of Elton John. A creative, much less tragic take on the classic love story and, while the filmmakers fully acknowledge how utterly silly their concept is, the result is a playful movie that is much more entertaining than it has any right to be. Quite possibly the greatest film ever made about living, breathing garden gnomes.
