Mercenaries, murderers, gangsters, and convicts; they were the most feared men on earth. But now they're a long way from home, and as they awake mid-freefall, landing on a strange jungle planet with no immediate recollection of how they got there, the ragtag band of human predators must form a tenuous alliance and figure out where they are and why. Led by the wiry American loner, Royce (Brody), the predators have become the prey and must prepare for the fight of their lives as super-sized invisible dreadlocked alien warriors appear to be hunting them down, one by one, for sport.

Essentially both a relaunch and sequel of the 1987 classic, Predators is the first of the many successors to actually live up to the original – it’s bloody, action-packed and distinctly lacking in cheese. The special effects, sets, costumes and acting all work together to make this movie a hit – it's tense, it's gory and it's maddeningly fun to watch, even if you can predict how things will turn out for most of the supporting cast (i.e. not good).

It’s taken twenty-three years, but Predator has finally found a worthwhile heir
