The Proposal

ringbearerWarning bell s rather than wedding bells might ring to macho-men as another predictable American romantic-comedy hits cinema screens this week.
Margaret (Bullock) is a bossy, but successful executive editor-in-chief of a book publishing company who will say yes to anything in order to ensure she’s not deported back to her native Canada –even if it means marriage.
With her visa fast drawing to its expiry date, Margaret convinces her assistant Andrew Paxton (Reynolds) to marry her. But their lie is put to the test as the government begin to investigate the newlyweds. In an attempt to convince everyone their marriage is real, they are forced to spend a weekend together in Alaska with her new husband’s parents Past the cover-ups and the bribes, the pair begin to realise there may be more between them then just marital status.
It’s another film set for chick-flick film lovers with a rather unoriginal tale, but Bullock delivers her usual sharp and punchy comic timing and manages to pick up and pull together an otherwise limp tale.

The Proposal – Dir Anne Fletcher, starring Sandra Bullock, Ryan Reynolds and Mary Steenburgen
