Heroes for hire

A_team_movies

Director: Joe Carnahan
Starring: Liam Neeson, Bradley Cooper, Quinton Jackson, Sharlto Copley

If you have a problem, if no-one else can help and if you can find them, maybe you can hire … the A-team.
Based on the cheesy 1980s television series, this reworking of the classic concept shifts the Vietnam vet backstory to a group of Iraq war veterans looking to clear their name with the US military, who suspect the four men of committing a crime for which they were framed.

Interestingly, the 2010 A-Team takes the ‘origins’ route (something never really shown in detail in the series), introducing us to group leader and brilliant strategist Hannibal Smith (Neeson), smooth talker Templeton "Faceman" Peck (Cooper), hardman B.A Baracus (UFC star Jackson) and deranged helicopter pilot "Howling Mad" Murdock (Copley).

The cast is top notch with real on-screen presence and chemistry between all four leads, and old-school fans will enjoy all the little nods to the original TV series.

The A-Team is a mindlessly entertaining blockbuster brimming with thrilling action sequences and delightfully zany characters that never take themselves too seriously. The result is loud and fun … in other words, the perfect summer movie. Don’t you just love it when a plan comes together?
