Arriving at the Monte Carlo Beach Club on Saadiyat Island is like entering a stylish high-end beach club in Southern France. High palm trees, flowery green delicate garden spaces and an impressive modern main entrance was just the beginning of our amazing dining experience.
We were immediately taken to our table overlooking the impressive terrace area. Decoration is minimalist and cosy at the same time.
The menu, designed by chef John Buenaventura has a Mediterranean feel, mixing cuisines from the French and Italian Rivieras. As starters, out of the eight options from the menu, I chose the house smoked salmon with my companion opting for the scallops. The smoked salmon was fresh and tasty, perfectly accompanied by stracchino cheese and dill mousse and cucumber granita. Our guest was delighted with the scallops, cooked to perfection with a smooth pumpkin puree, apple and miso dressing.
Our mains were delightful – wagyu striploin for our guest and seared duck for us. The menu also offers a great variety of fish and seafood and some pasta dishes. The beef was amazing and described as “mouth watering” by our companion. The seared duck was far beyond our expectations, very tender and well seasoned.
Portions were just the right size, and we had some space left to share a dessert. We opt for the passion fruit and banana tart with spiced chocolate ice cream. Simply delicious! Overall a great evening and a “must go” dinner experience in Abu Dhabi.
