Fed up with identikit homes? IKEA isn’t your only option for furniture. Put a personal stamp on your abode with some standout pieces from these three shops
Mosaique
This independent shop houses one-off pieces of furniture and quirky homeware – think flamingo armchairs and mirrored drink trays.
Lama Qaddumi, the shop’s managing partner, says, “Setting up Mosaique was the right thing to do as there is a passion for evolving, dynamic boutiques like this.
“The shop is like a mosaic as it is put together with pieces to make a picture,” she continues. “It is a white store filled with colourful items, from chaise longs and patchwork cushions to tea sets and hand-carved coffee tables. We have an incredible variety of products and there’s always something new – one day an item’s here, the next it’s gone.”
Mosaique is Abu Dhabi’s only supplier of Bokja, furniture made by Lebanese designers Huda Baroudi and Maria Hibri, known as the Bokja Girls.
“Bokja has made custom pieces for Madonna and Julia Roberts, so it’s great to have their work here,” continues Lama. “We also have an incredible kandora hanger made from Italian leather and stainless steel, which was made locally.”

Koreana
This shop stocks items that you can’t find on the high street – think rocking chairs and oriental folding screens. The friendly owner is Korean, so many items are inspired by Asia. Look out for dragon-shaped drawer handles and wardrobes with Asian-style paintings to add a bespoke twist to your home.
