Standing proud at the end of the Corniche is the iconic Etihad Towers, where the team at Nahaam offers one of the capital’s more lavish brunches. Seated near the pool area for some al fresco dining, we find the calm waters lapping against the beach offers the perfect environment for the Chill and Grill Friday brunch.

To start our mouthwatering food marathon we delve into the selection of fresh seafood available inside the restaurant. Giant oysters, lobster and scallops fill our plate for the first of many helpings; you just can’t beat eating seafood so close to the beach.

The buffet selection doesn’t stop inside either. Wandering around the chef stations outside we have to stop for the sizzle of Thai cooking. Wafts of fresh ginger and sweet chili tickle our noses before we move over to the crispy shredded duck. Generously packed pancakes ooze plum sauce, spring onions and cool cucumber; that’s our Asian craving fulfilled.

We decide to give our tummies a much-needed break. Thanks to the newly arrived live entertainment, our feet are soon tapping while we relax in the Arabian sun.

Ready to start again and in the mood for Mediterranean, we head to the fresh pasta and sauce station. A custom sauce to cloak your al dente pasta is a must-try here; rigatoni with spicy arrabbiata ends our main course with a bang.

We have just enough room for dessert. The Willy Wonka-esque options mean we absolutely have to load our plates to the brim. Platforms and stations are stacked with chocolates, sweets, ice creams, cakes and pastries – even a movie popcorn stand for the kids. Warning: those with a sweet tooth will feel rather guilty the following morning. But only for a short while, because you’ll be booking your next brunch here before you know it.
