With a view from your table overlooking magnificent yachts in the marina and the Formula 1 racetrack, it’s hard not to feel a little special when dining at Origins at the Yas Viceroy.

We were treated to a glass of bubbly on arrival at Friday brunch and joined a lively crowd seated both indoors and on the air-conditioned terrace outside.

There’s a fantastic spread of international cuisine on offer with Asian, Arabic and Mediterranean starters comprising of salads, soups, pastas, dim sum and deliciously fresh sushi competing for your attention. Seafood lovers will be delighted with the selection and quality of food available, from the succulent peeled prawns to the oysters being shucked by one of the friendly chefs. The grilled lobster was excellent and bursting with flavour, necessitating a second helping.

A beautifully presented caviar bar sitting on a bed of ice with multiple varieties on offer added to the illusion that just maybe you had the keys to one of the mega-yachts in your pocket.

The grilled salmon, perfectly cooked with a soy sauce and brown sugar marinade, was delicious accompanied by fried cauliflower and herb-roasted potatoes.

There’s a huge range of dishes to suit every discerning palette with live cooking stations dotted around the large interior helping to produce steaks cooked to your liking and exceptional dishes such as beef Wellington and Thai green curry.

It would be remiss not to mention the service on offer as the waiters and chefs couldn’t have been more helpful and pleasant throughout the afternoon, suggesting drinks to accompany our various dishes. Other dining guests we spoke to claimed to come back every Friday due to the welcome they receive and the friendliness of the staff.

Desserts, if you can muster the room, are in abundance with cakes, mousses, pastries, fruits and ice cream displayed invitingly. Those without a sweet tooth will enjoy the fine selection of tasty cheeses instead.

We took coffee on the terrace, savouring the fabulous views, to end a perfect brunch.
