Masdar is top of the crop among GCC universities

Masdar Institute of Science and Technology, the independent, research-driven university focusing on sustainable energy and technology, has scored high in the inaugural US News & World Report Rankings in the Best Arab Universities sector at the World Innovation Summit for Education in Doha, Qatar.

Masdar Institute ranked first in the ‘field-weighted citation impact’ list, which measures the quality of published academic papers. The ranking is considered one of the most sophisticated indicators of the value of published research.

The institute also ranked second and third in categories measuring the volume of excellent research produced by a university, as well as sixth out of the 91 participating institutions in the number and quality of publications focusing on the topic of energy.

Masdar Institute has four registered US patents, 42 pending patent applications and 69 invention disclosures. Its faculty, post-doctorate fellows and students have published over 500 papers in peer-reviewed journals and other academic publications.

Its overall ranking of 23 – out of 91 institutions from 16 countries – registers a great success for the university.
